RS America at Bohnams

Did anyone notice the ‘94 RS America sell at Bohnams Scottsdale this past week? Brought 88k including fees. Most I’ve seen on the market are asking 100-120k. Was this a steel or are the current sellers dreaming?

Bonhams : 1994 Porsche 911 RS AmericaVIN. WP0AB2966RS419120Engine no. 62R00871

Modified RSA with roll bar that says track time. Car has been lowered, air ducts in the front and I am sure there are more mods we cant see. Not much mentioned in the way of records. Changed hands 4 times in the last 4 years with only about 500 miles put on it in that time. If you asked me that price as just okay for the buyer. I dont see many RSA's selling over $100k these days.

were your the buyer steve?

Gooding sold one for $117,700, including the buyer premium. Listed as 21k original miles. Looks like a MUCH better car than the Bonhams car.

Seems about current market for a driver RSA with mods/rollbar etc... Low mileage, original, documented, non sunroof - no radio - AC delete examples bring 6 figures easily.

You would think the owner would fix that smile before sending it to auction.

RS America at Bohnams

I saw both cars. The Bonham’s car was pretty rough looking and obviously been used hard.

The Gooding car looked like it came off the showroom floor, just gorgeous. I thought the 117k was a good buy.

Like the poster above I inspected both cars and I own an RSA so I know them well. The car at Gooding was an excellent example with the only nits being some minor detail type items and a non desirable option specification (sunroof and ac and no LSD). I think it was well bought.

The black car was ROUGH, surprised Bonham’s accepted it frankly. Just an old worn out former track car. This picture sums up its quality for me, this is where the previous owner had a trailer hitch attached: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1516766168.jpg

From what we've seen the subpar (track cars/beaters) are under $100K but a local car here in Philadelphia sold for $200K in white & we sold a 33K Miles car for $145K both in the last 6 months.

The trailer hitch photo above is hysterical! Would've love to see that beauty in person....

No, I wasn’t the buyer :) this is my first post here so I probably look like I have alterior motives. I’ve just been watching the RSA market for a while and it seems like a lot of the cars listed ove 100k aren’t moving. They are one of my favorite 911 varieties. I enjoy watching them actually change hands.

Thanks for the informed opinions!

the nice cars will bring $150 faster than the rough track cars will bring $75

My first RSA was sold for 110k in 2014. It was a very well cared for car with 66k miles. My second one was bought on BAT for 80k plus fees and was a 34k very clean car with an interesting ownership history including some road rallying. Condition being everything, it is nicely modified but super clean. Would it have been worth $130k plus without the eight holes made by the roll bar? Sure. But It would have also been out of my target price range. I have since returned replaced the seats with a totally correct set, and also swapped the headers for some with heat. It was a steal of a deal and I was just happy to have one back in the garage. As far as I'm concerned, just buy the best example in your budget. I don't see them getting any cheaper, but I also don't care because this one isn't getting sold any time soon!
