Value of tribute with fiberglass fenders?

We have a rescue dog. The wife's heart melted when she saw her, and we had to adopt her.

My heart did not melt on seeing this car. But it's been on Craigslist on and off all summer. I feel sorry for it. It's a '78 with a Strosek replica kit. I'm thinking it would be a good basis for a IROC tribute. Maybe you could get away with not redoing the rear flares. But you'd need fenders, bumpers, different deck lid, mirrors, headlights. Wheels and tires might be difficult to find. Add up the cost of all that, plus fitting and painting the replacement parts, fool's errand? No good pictures of the interior.

I kind of like it as it sits; it appears of-a-piece, not obviously janky.

For me variety is nice. Not everything needs to be stock.

Your wife might be onto something. The car is cool.....

The picture looks good does it show the real car or is it a 10 footer? I'm curious about the interior.... is it stock..... sport seats?

I'd easily give $15,000 for it. Nice stock interior maybe more.....

I would keep it as it is and enjoy it for awhile.

I love a yellow car in black wheels, Porsche 911 or Skyline GT-R. Nonetheless, as a 911 you can't leave those beady little head lamps on that thing the way it sits. Certainly that will incur some body and paint cost. May as well do a 993 look on front in my humble opinion. That said, it's worth keeping no?

Sorry I wasn't clear. I haven't adopted it yet, just considering it.
Supposedly there's spider cracks in the fiberglass,
There's no good picture of the seats, you can see the front of them in the dash picture. Looks like they've been recovered. The door panels are "interesting"

I'm surprised I kind of like it. If it wasn't for the itty bitty teeny weenie headlights I might leave as is. Interior door cards are a little weird, but not terrible. Black and Yellow is a good color combo.

The look on the outside is better than the inside.
That dash and the door cards look poorly executed in pictures. They will look worse in person.
And the door pull hurts my eyes. Completely failed with those.

If you like the outside the interior should be an easy fix. Replacing the body and paint would be a waste of money if the car is over $15k.

Search 1978 yellow Porsche strosek and more pictures available from a few piggyback sites.

The car is available in both kansas and colorado, probably other places too, heh heh.

http://veh-markets.com/cars/porsche-c/113692-1978-porsche-911-sc-strosek-body-original-30-liter-6-cylinder.html
http://classiccardb.com/porsche/132545-1978-porsche-911-custom-wide-body-turbo-look-strosek-design.html

I remember seeing this strosek kit in road and track when it, and projector beam headlights, were brand new. Pretty big contrast with the square headlights and excess trim pieces on everything else in America at that time.

Edit- maybe a real strosek kit? Not that it changes the value...

I found those other pictures last night. There was also a RL thread in 2014 about what might be the same car, no pictures but hard to believe there's two of them. I think I'm going to pass on this car. They're asking $26k, a couple replies here mentioned $15k, I might have gone more before I saw the other pictures. Also I doubt it had a fresh rebuild in 2014 / 2015 and then another one recently. If someone is interested it's listed in the Minneapolis Craigslist, even though the ad says it is in Rochester MN and Rochester has its own Craigslist site. I won't post a link, they take the ad down and post a new one every so often.

To clarify on the rescue dog, This is her. 100% American Foxhound per the DNA test, but she's afraid of loud noises so I'm guessing whoever bred the litter was going to use her as a hunting dog, and she and a couple of her litter mates got dumped when they didn't make the cut. Here she is guarding the back yard from squirrels,

IMO this is bases for a unique hot rod...... I would not touch exterior except where I have to...

I don't like any light colored interiors.... so minimally I would be buying a used stock interior w/ dash, door cards & at least a driver side sport seat, roughly $3,000 total budget, delete the rear seat....

Of course do not listen to me.......I would rabbit hole this car and would want a monster 3.8L to propel it, which would mean every system would need upgrading to support the power.... suspension, brakes and cooling.....

Pretty dog.

I wonder where the car actually is, or if it's piggybacks on vapor.

Could be an interesting test drive.

It looks like a well done Strosek. You don't see those very often. I think it looks great and would leave the exterior as is. The interior could be fixed up with minimal work. Cool car.

I like it the way it is, but I also have a FrankenPorsche. 88 widebody cab with 964 rear and 993 headlights. My mechanic thinks I should put stock turbo fenders on, or some slantnose fenders he has. I like the way it looks. lol That is something unique and not everyone will have one.
