Advice on 74 911 SC
Hi,
I've been looking to acquire my first 911. I'm in Canada and was originally looking for a 79-84 SC. Nothing really exists in Canada so I was looking in the US. However, this came up '74: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/markham-york-region/classic-porsche-911/1174542666 I know these had some challenges with the block so I was wondering if anyone here could provide some feedback on this car from what you can see or what I should be asking. Thanks for any help / advice. |

1974- 911s not sc
1. Rust 2. History on engine, it’s been converted to carbs, looks clean but worth a PPI 3. How were the fenders added?, check welds, or see If they are steel or FG |

If it is a US 1974 Carrera it came w/ a 911/93 mg block 2.7 175hp@5800, 167 lb-ft@4000, CIS. Someone replaced the CIS w/ carbs not telling what else but adverting to sell as is in not promising. an Sc is a whole different animal and most would consider it to be much more desirable, SC were built from '1978 thru 1983 when the were replaced by 3.2 Carrera for '84 thru '89. before the SC the more desirable Carreras were the 210hp 2.7s '73 -76 or 200hp 3.0's '76 -77. The car also has later mirrors though most of the rest of it looks stock. Unless you have some special interests I'd pass and wait for a true SC or 3.2 Carrera

If it's truly a '74 Carrera, I'd be all over that - way over any SC.

Not sure that's a Carrera. Wrong tail and steering wheel. The VIN would tell the story.

Morning: the car in the classified ad is NOT A 74 CARRERA, the 74 has small rear bumpers and electric windows, the tail is a replica/or original 75 Carrera tail...74 came with duck tail. I have owned a 74 Carrera since 2000 and have enjoyed every minute of ownership!!! I would not be concerned about the 2.7 let engine...living in a non hot climate they were little to know problems. I am in the process on building my 2.7 with 112,000 miles into a high performance 2.8 lt single plug.
If that car is rust free and the engine is solid the price is great.. the 74 carrera’s sales they are selling in the 60/100,000 range... good luck
