Expired harnesses

What should a brand new in box (expired in 2015) set of harnesses sell for? I have a set of Schroth Profi 2 - 6 point harnesses.

New they are around $700.

Thanks!

Matt Monson 02-27-2018 10:45 AM

I paid $80 for a used set last year.

OK, thanks but these are brand new, never installed. Just sat on a shelf for a few years. They were $700 or so new, so is it unrealistic to ask $350 or so?

doubt it. the expired nature of them makes them useless to any racer, and for simple DE use there are cheaper options than $350. you might look into getting them re-webbed with a new cert and realize a greater sale opportunity.

if you mean $350 for the pair the only way you'll know is to post them in the classified.

Expired is expired. Used in service are worth more than expired. Mine were like new, used for one Lemons race before the car blew up the second event and never was raced again. So maybe 30 hours of racing. And expired.

Nope. They cost so much because they must comply with stringent FIA requirements in order to pass tech with racing organizations. Once expired, they no longer pass tech regardless of how new or unused they are.

You'd be looking for the hot rod poser that wants harnesses for the street to look cool, and as Matt said, they are a ton of cheaper options available. That said, bright and shiny is nice, so I'll say you eventually get a taker at $150, but prepare for them to sit while you sift through an epic amount of low ballers.

$100. $150 if you're fortunate. I've had and sold my share of expired belts.

Bet you reuse these straps everywhere.

Careful with the expired ones though. Don't want my good buddy (no Rawknees, not that !) injured using a busted harness ;)

I've heard that pNutz has been known to hit his favorite watering holes () wearing nothing but a harness strap or two (expiration dates are of no consequence to him)!
