Buyers Beware - 21k 1987 911 Targa

I remember this car from BAT. Pretty obvious it's the wrong tach. No mention of it anywhere in the new classified.

Read the comments on BAT. Why do you think the car only sold for $41.5k on BAT when a 116k 84 Carrera just sold for more. Have you seen a 180 MPH speedo on 3.2L Carrera before? I never have.

Carfax and condition don't add up IMO. That is why I started this Buyers Beware thread.

You are missing the point.

BAT still says 21K in the link. If it's a verified issue, shouldn't they correct the headline as well ?

I'm not sure how BAT runs there business regarding headlines but if you click on the auction it says "21k Miles Shown" not 21k documented miles.

To me, it seems that once again, BaT is delving into serious fraudulent territory regarding their descriptions and writing.

That's the headline. Why would you think or would be lead to believe otherwise? It states 21K Mile right up front.

Sorry, but again, these guys seems to take these shenanigans in stride, and then seem to gloss over very pertinent details that would otherwise make the car sell for a lot less.

Guys. The car already sold on BAT last month for $41.5k plus fees. If you followed the auction and commentary anyone who bid on that car knew there was most likely a mileage discrepancy.

The problem is that the car was bought by a dealer (a self proclaimed "Porsche specialist") who is asking over $10k more and well knows this car isn't a 21k mile example. This is why I started the thread.

So is copying CDs and DVDs - and as you said - the enforcement of mileage tampering is pretty much non-existent. Probably because in the computer age it is/isn't? easier or harder? I am not sure. Agree. If I was BAT I would of definitely took the 21k off the headline after it was pointed out the tach wasn't original. But then again who buys a car just off a headline.
