2012 991 opinions
Folks,
I've been generally reluctant to purchase first model year 911 models, having owned several 911's over the years (911, Carrera, 964, 996, 997). I've found that historically there have been some "teething" problems whenever the company changes models. Perhaps some of these are overblown on forums, etc. However I presently find myself looking (a lot) at 2012 MY "New 911" cab models and have been thinking seriously about pulling the trigger. Really just a fair weather driver. What's been your experience with reliability with these? Prices seem to be coming down nicely. Pls share any insights you may have. Thanks, George |

I drove one daily for 3 years (2012-2014) and it was great. The "sports car" was generally removed from this model, so muted feel of basically everything, but made for a very comfortable around town car. I never had a single mechanical issue. Lot of car for the money.
Service is expensive compared to 997 though. |

I was speaking to an independent Porsche tech the other day, he had a 991 in his shop. He stated that they were very unfriendly when it comes to maintenance and service.
