Found a nice 911 but have some questions

Hi,

I've found a nice 911 that is getting inspected right now. As I haven't seen the car yet, the initial photos indicate the seats and the passenger door panel are in rough shape. The passenger door looks like the window switch is missing and I don't believe the window goes up/down.

I'm thinking about $2k CAD to reupholster the seats, does that seem about right? Also, any ideas what the switch to fix the window could run?

Thanks,

The switches are available on the classifieds section. I picked up a pair not too long ago and they were perfect. I paid $30.

What year 911?
2k CAD would be a deal on reupholstering the seats. I got a quote from one of the best known shops in the Porsche interior world for $1900 for a pair of 964 seats. Leather covers alone from Classic 9 was $1475 and a 3 week wait.

Window switch is around $20 - If that doesn't fix it, could be a motor, regulator, wiring issue..

If the car is what you're after and the price is right, don't let little nits like this force you to pass it up.

Hi,

Sorry for not responding to comments, I've had a busy day at the office.

To clarify, it is an 84, 911 Targa and has 96k miles. I have some pics put haven't transferred them from my phone to my computer so I can't post them yet.

It looks like the seams are coming apart on the front seats and the passenger door switch is missing and maybe the window doesn't work.

I'll try to update this when I have the pics.

Thanks again!

Miles and price are slightly off.

With the exchange running about 1.28, I'd say that's about right.

No bargain but probably market fair if all checks out (ie cylinder studs).

True, cars are super spendy here in Vancouver. There is a very nice granite green '87 coupe for sale but it isn't cheap. To that end, $37,500 for that car seems way cheap..did it check out through the PPI? If so, i would be clearing your calendar this weekend and flying out to see it. Good luck.

That must be the wrong tail - looks to me like a turbo tail on a non turbo car.
No front spoiler too? Wonder what the options sticker says.
Headlights should be sugar scoops, right?
Front wheels look odd. Wrong offset? 944 Fuchs?

That's not quite the whole story - as I said in the thread, I got concerned about car flippers when the car was not yet secured. So I temporarily removed the text of my post.

Now that I finalized the deal, I went back and replaced all the text I temporarily removed. I plan to actively contribute now that I actually own a car.

Thanks again to everyone who gave me feedback

Yeah, Gretz stepped up and now is in the game. Sometimes you gotta be careful in this aircooled buyer world of shame.
