The interior must’ve hypnotized the bidders into delusional bidding territory. I got a bit queasy myself when I looked at it. That is one shocking price! This is mind boggling, hypnosis had to have been involved here. Lol

Maybe all the people busy building backdates, will start building safari cars.

Yeah...I’m thinking if your otherwise normal 911 isn’t attracting the buyers you hoped, jack it up, throw on some BFG All Terrains, and 20 billion candlepower of lights on the hood, and BOOM. You’re making Bank.

We had fun building this one, and what a blast to drive! It's actually a great all-around driver, potholes, what potholes?

I like it, but the price is rather shocking and seems to go completely against the "stock is more valuable" rule. You must be thrilled with the auction result..

Pretty sure allot more money, time and thought went into the BAT build.

I'm just as shocked that there were enough bidders to push this up to a 142k hammer price. There were two other bidders above 130k for this dizzying ride!

Yes, we are the seller, we spent a lot of time on the build and the presentation, it pays off, we were pleased with the results. We do very well with modded Porsche's, stock is great for some, but there is certainly a market for nicely done hot-rods.

I remember in the early 00's when a couple of Bay Area lawyers spent about $70K on modding/track-prepping their SCs, and it turned into a multi-page full spread article in Excellence magazine. Then a couple years later Stephan Wilkinson wrote "The Gold Plated Porsche," which was about how he spent $70K on an SC he resto-modded.
Now this, a $140K SC. Still running CIS, right? No ITBs or even big carbs. Not even SSIs? Really wrecks the idea of buying someone else's project for a fraction of the original cost. Then again people go a little nuts for anything with knobby tires, jacked-up ride height, and extra lights. Pretty sure a warmed-over Baja Bug would get you 90% of the fun, for 10% the cost. Then you'd have something you wouldn't mind truly abusing.

I checked out all the pictures and I have to admit to being impressed, which doesn't happen often! Nice job with the build, and the sale.

However, I happen to agree with this fellow. If you did the same level and quality of restoration to a 100k+ mile 1983 SC, left it with completely bone stock drive train, does anybody think it would fetch $142k...nope. Quote:

![]() The build is done very tastefully and to a high standard. I just can't wrap my head around that kind of money without 300hp and a built gearbox. I would expect another $50k put into the built to get out of it $142k!

Who ever said a stock 911 brings the most money? Yes, if it’s a numbers matching original RS, RSR, air cooled turbo, etc. On BaT, the hot rod 911’s are bringing the bigger money.
