Well I don’t know if it’s a ‘expert’ opinion but definitely well informed. The car does have potential, especially if the paint and clearcoat hasn’t lifted and it can be cleaned and polished to an even consistency. Though original, it has Not been well cared for over the years. The undercarriage, trim, wheels, motor and window trim all need refurbishing. The interior is also average but original except for the drilled rear speakers. The headliner is soiled and the dash is sun warped probably needing to be reupholstered. The motor is unknown, with possible oil or exhaust leaks which are very common. Assuming the motor has good compression it shows to be original except for minor stuff; headers, EGR, intecooler gasket, a/c compressor. Curious, the owner says it passed smog in California, without EGR or thermal reactors? I want that smog guy. Again it’s an average car, but mostly original which you can’t say for all of the cars on BAT. New owner needs to have a plan if he wants to make it special. Or just drive it.

" or just drive it" not a bad idea if it drives well. Better off getting one original and perfect or already restored if going for excellence. On a similar miles and color 78 I decided not to sell mine for a $105K offer when the market was pretty hot. So now to see what the BAT bidders think this one is worth ( 20% drop is what many think from a better time, if selling ). BAT is but one price point but I'd say around $80K for this one. Not that I'd agree that BAT is an absolute value judgement/appraisal, but just one from a somewhat informed group of buyers opinions.

May 2017 to April 2018 down $15,000 per tracked auction results. This is from a subscription-only provider of high end car auction data.

The ship was sailing in late 2015 and by 2016 it was sinking. Recently a '77 quit at $100,000 on BAT. The '65 911 feeding frenzy prices are down as well.

The Turbo was not a limited production car and there still plenty to go around. Only the best will ring the bell. The also-ran auctions found on the fringes of most majors are where the "of questionable provenance" cars end up. I saw a lot of "iffy" cars at Amelia Island this year at these places. Some touted to have original paint where a friend who restores Porsches commented: "Looks like it was blocked with a brick".

No such thing as a permanent trend other than death and taxes so you may as well hold.

I still like the survivor market; the only-original-once cars.

Magnus posted a picture of his on Instagram last night. That's got to be a $20k bump.

As I said before, in order to lessen the shame brought on myself and this forum, I'm out on this one.

However I would say I would much rather have had that red one. This car is going to need tens of thousands to get it to where that red car is.

Yes , the 78 Brokatrot Red 930 got a high bid @ $83K, less than 70% of what I thought of it's today's value and the silver 77 930 (mentioned above) did not even get a starting bid of $100K on BAT vs the $189K they are asking "Noon" on Symbolic Motorcars of San Diego website, so close to 1/2 value difference for both on BAT?? Some, maybe all, are way off on the high / low value estimates of these two cars. Not to worry, in a few years, ( hind site being 20/20 ) all will be clarified as to who got the good deal with keeping or selling.

Thanks, I agree. I owned drove the Brokatrot red one for 4 years and about 1K miles, inspected and serviced it, and it won a major concours and in most ways was like a very low mileage collector grade car worth far more than any 63K mile somewhat original 40 year old 930. I also have a nice 78 63K mile 930 I've owned for 15 years & 10K miles, so this just is my objective opinion. This one and the copper one are somewhat comparable although I think mine is more original, with better options. Also not that anyone will ask but I plan to keep it for awhile longer. Upon looking at all of the photos of the copper one it does look like a decent 78 930 so it could get some good money even on BAT. Maybe $95K instead of my earlier $80K estimate.

Give me that usable 80 Euro coupe. Hell, I’d even drive it in copper metallic or guards.

Thank you for the positive reinforcement. I'm going to keep my 930 comments undercover until I do some serious research and talking to people 'in the know.'

That is one of the worst colors to ever be sprayed on a car (looks more like what would be sprayed on the inside of a toilet after a hard night of Tequila and Tex-Mex binging)!
