When it comes to Porsche, the 1st and the last are usually the first to rise in value. Hence the 74 has been steadily rising, not as rapid as the 65, but the same trend, up.
Same with the 356's, the early cars have reached insane heights, with two recently breaking the million dollar mark. Same reason an SC will stomp a C or B all day long in terms of value. So the 74 will only become more collectible, I've been watching them for years, since my birth year is 74. I think I'm going to hold out for a Carrera though, but by the time I get around to it they will probably be over $100,000. They aren't all super pricey though, I sold one a couple of weeks ago for $7000. ---Adam http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1524623396.JPG |
Not to hijack your thread but my question may give you some additional insight.
https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1Q...b6h33mwmWqFAjGI wanted to get the community’s opinion on how much I should list my car. I have limited garage space which is making me think about selling my car. About the car: · 1975 Porsche 911 S · 3rd Owner (to my knowledge) · California car · Engine is a 1983 3.0 · Complete bare metal all glass out repaint 6 years ago (Meteor Grey Metallic Porsche Color) · No accidents straight body · Zero rust · Complete front suspension rebuild 1 year ago (all new bushings, bearings, rubber, shocks) · Complete brake refresh 1 year ago (front and rear caliper rebuild and brake fluid flush) · New rear shocks · Complete fuel system refresh 1 year ago (new gas tank, rebuilt fuel pump, new fuel filter, fuel distributor rebuild, new fuel injectors) · New Alcantera headliner · Dash covered in Alcantera · RS style door inserts · Porsche sports seats The car is in good running condition. Being that this is a 1975 car there is no smog check in California. There is a small oil leak coming from some of the sensors on top of the engine and near the side oil tank. All electrical works good. This is not an original numbers matching car. What it is, is an awesome driver. Thinking about putting it on the market in the next 6-12 months, so what’s a good and fair listing price? What are some good sites to list older Porsches? Does anyone have recent sales data points for similar cars that have sold? Thanks |

Just got some pictures of the early service records and looks like the mileage is 148 K not 48 K. What would be the price considering and extra 100 K?

I would be suspect of the dealer and their claims though if they had records that showed the mileage and they apparently didnt look close enough, or did not disclose it... I wouldn't trust their determination of the condition of the car and the lack of rust. David |
I have a call into them waiting to hear back from them on what the price would be with the 100 K miles would be.

When I talked to them around Easter, their BIG sales pitch was the extensive documentation history, not so much the low mileage. Having sold a few Porsches, I can tell you, documented service history is worth a lot of money.

Interesting turn of events when called them out on mileage seller still claims correct indicated and sent me a copy of the re-issued title claiming 12k miles at time of sale. No response when asked for anything such original registration back in 83 or even bill if sale. If that kept all those maintenance records you’d think he would have kept the bill of sale.
I was told car is now off there website and headed for Denver Mecum auction in June. I did a quick search and found the car with mileage listed as “Believed mileage 48K”. So the search moves on for me..... |

You did your due diligence. Something better will come along...it always does. |
The dealer is a liar. The 1984 service record clearly shows the car with 98k miles at that time.

A dealer in Ventura, Ca did that exact same thing to me on what would have been at that time my first 911. I was after it’s all original, lower mileage condition of which all turned out to be bull**** as it was neither original nor lower mileage. As I sifted through mileage records I watched the odometer turn over of which they apparently “overlooked”.
