Considering selling my `87 Carrera Coupe
I've been thinking about selling my Carrera for a while, I don't drive it much and thought I'd start testing the value waters. I bought it in 1998 and have had a lot of fun with it over the years but now it spends it's time in the garage covered.
It's not your typical ***** brown Porsche And the mileage is now just over 100,000 Here's a description: • VIN # WPOAB0918HS120199 • Three owners, I'm 3rd owner since May 1998 • When I purchased it had 15,530 miles • Original purchase from Motor Werks of Barrington Illinois • Current mileage 100,000 • Very original car, no rust, ORIGINAL PAINT never damaged • Espresso Brown metallic exterior w/ Mahogany belt leather interior • Front and rear spoilers • Limited slip differential • Central locking • Automatic heat control • Full power seats L/R power lumbar support L/R • Electric sun roof • Fuchs 9/16 rear, 7/16 front, original finish • Original tool kit and spare, owners manual, original keys, window sticker, COA from Porsche • All matching numbers on engine, transmission, and every body panel Engine: • 3.2L with G-50 transmission • Engine compartment has all original decals and stickers • Recently replaced engine sound pad with OEM part • Oil return tubes and cam oil lines replaced • Clutch replaced and release shaft update performed • Dansk SS single in dual out muffler, original is in a box in the attic • Recently all 4 calipers rebuilt fluid flushed pads replaced w/ Pagid Sport Blue pads • Koni adjustable sport shocks • Many receipts and service history, most work done by me Everything works: • Lights, fog lights, gauge lights recently replaced with LED bulbs • Kenwood radio JL Audio speakers and Sony 150w amp • 930S steering wheel and shift knob/boot, original steering wheel in a box in attic • Cruise control, sunroof, rear defogger, clock, heater controls including fan, AC, mirror power switches left and right, cigarette lighter has never been used • Stacks of paperwork and receipts

Looks nice. I'd ballpark it at $45k.

Oh something I left off the list just replaced the AC receiver dryer and had system tested and charged with R12, yep the original stuff. Works good. You can still find the stuff on eBay and Craigslist, not cheap though.

Comments appreciated. Now I need to get the nerve to really sell it. Sort of like selling one of your children. I'd like someone to care for it like I have.
I knew absolutely nothing about 911s when I bought the car except I had to have one, learned a lot with the help of Porschelist/Rennlist/Pelican parts forum. I have tons of books, took the Woods, Anderson 911 maintenance course Bruce Anderson signed a copy of "911 Performance Handbook". I'll have to check out BaT, seem to be a place to go. Thanks,

That is a beautiful color. It would go well with my macadamia Boxster!

I am with the $50,000 crowd. Color is worth a premium and ownership is a big plus. You should list it here first and sell it to a kindred spirit.
You are correct..... it will be very difficult to replace........ |

Love the color! Sounds like great provenance too. I’m guessing sold at $50k+ if you do it right.

That is a damn fine car. Take it back to stock as much as possible and sell the mods outside of the deal. It is north of $50K all day long with an excellent photo representation + owner participation on BAT no doubt. I think the interior is stunning as is the entire vehicle.

My opinions
I would:
Straighten the gauges Source a factory stereo Remove the dead pedal Get the car back to matching "as delivered" on COA Then put it on BAT. I bet $55-65k close on BAT VERY desirable color combo GLWTS I personally could not sell it if it was mine. I have a 1986 911 Coupe in Paint to Sample Brown with Color to sample dark brown leather a exact paint match to my 1of1 1986 Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Coupe also in brown, along with my dark brown euro 420SEC (same body as 560SEC) and my 1 of 60 brabus edition Smart forTwo. I am a HUGE fan of BROWN cars. Good luck

Thanks Ferrariguy,
That's quite an impressive collection of cars you have. Now that I've started the ball rolling I have a list of things to do. Although it's not too late to change my mind. Straightening the gauges is simple, I have the original Reno radio in a box. I probably won't put the original steering wheel on I'll just sell it with the car, I like the 930S wheel and think it adds not subtracts. I need to buy a rear valance, have it painted to match and put the original muffler back on, that's in the attic. Most of what I've done is reversible, I always kept that in mind just in case. Regards,

That's gorgeous! I expect it'll easily sell for strong money, I just hope you don't miss it too much.
