PPI in San diego CA
I am on the east coast and want to a car SD gone through for a PPI, I don't know anyone south of LA so looking for recommendations. Anyone have experience with
CPRclassic 760-731-1253 Makello classics or other San Diego air cooled Porsche specialists ? PM if you would rather not post it Jeffrey Vogel Bridgehampton NY |
I can vouch for Makellos. Excellent shop. Tom who is the lead mechanic in service department is great.
Cheers, Lance |
Both those shops are good. Others would be Mirage and Black Forest. But if it’s a nice stock car I would go with one of the first two. They do pretty serious resto work.

Performance Independent Porsche is a good choice. It's a sort of old time shop & well respected by the other shops. It's usually overfilled with cars though, so you might have to give them a little lead time.

Mark at Performance is the best!

I've been to all the shops listed with the exception of CPR. I use the shops based on what work i'm having done.
Suspension/Engine work I use Jae at Mirage. Restoration type work I use Makellos When I had my 997 I used Mark at performance. my recommendation is Jae at Mirage or Makellos for a PPI |
Where is the car in San Diego... it’s a huge county.
Makellos and CPR are way up north. Jae Lee/Mirage and Black Forest are sort of mid-county Mark at Precision is a bit more Southern All are excellent, so might as well make it easy on the seller... |
+1 for Black Forest. Mark Kinninger knows his stuff and its worth the trek for him to take a peek.
