Another valuation beggar - 1987 911 Coupe

Good morning fellow pelicans

I've been toying around with the idea of selling my 1987 coupe for a while now and have had it on craigslist with a higher than realistic price (because craigslist). I've come to the realization my interests have now shifted and it's time to move on from the hobby altogether. It's a slightly hot-rodded car with 144k miles and original paint. Let me know what you guys think would be a fair asking price

Some other "cool cars" I've owned in the last 10 years

You should be able to get mid $40s on BAT. Car looks great. What size tires/rims are you running on the front.

Thanks! I was thinking about going the BaT route..

They're 15x8 in the front with a bit of alignment-fu. They look aggressive in the photo(that's why I picked that photo) but actually tuck in quite nicely. The extra camber also helps to quiet down the R888(R)'s.

Beware BAT, there are now so many auctions running that it is very possible to get hosed. BAT will low ball your reserve and have the option to make up the difference between the low bid and reserve if it makes them money.

I kind of think that BAT have jumped the shark as they have gotten too big too fast. Just look and see how many similar cars they have running now. A divided audience is a small one....

Thanks for the heads up - I am not well informed of their terms and conditions. I will have to do my homework now

If you go the BAT route just make sure to take over 100 (current) well shot photos and be 100% transparent. Also put a nice little driving video together and don't forget to include all service info, undercarriage shots etc... It's a bunch more work, but if you spend the time and put a nice selling package together you should do really well by the looks of it.

Check these recent comps.

The main problem is that you will request a reserve and then BAT will come in with a lower number - take it or leave it. You don’t get to set it, and they will set it below market value to ensure they get their 5% commission.

BAT is tough unless you really know what you are doing. Get professional pics or better yet get a professional to post it for you. I've seen lots of first time posters fall flat.

Why the "unrealistic price" ?

Selling to a p-car enthusiast is a good outcome as Leno says; if the buyer is local, even better.

Ultimately, what should happen to your cars is that they would go to true believers, to the people who want them and understand them and will use them. That’s what I hope would happen to mine, but I really don’t know. And don’t call me—I’m not ready to sell anything yet.
A nice driver is always worth that. $40-50K should cover it.

Just to weed out the flippers and dreamers. Thanks, I'm starting to get an idea of what to shoot for.
