It's a good idea to replace your helmet every 5 years or so anyway. The padding deteriorates on the inside and it no longer provides the protection you need.

Three years is pretty old on DOT-R compounds. I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless the tire starts coming apart. I would seriously consider replacing them before next season however.
