grind a bit(3/8 or so) off of the starter, where it makes contact with the bellhousing, so that when the gear kicks it out it catches more of the flywheel teeth.

With all that power and torque, you'd be better off beefin' up a 901 4 speed. Besides not needing close ratio gears, you won't have to be sacred of ripping the teeth of that dogleg 1st gear

oh kool! A stock 1600cc I'm pretty sure had a 69mm stroke and 85.5mm bore. A popular and affordable upgrade which opens up the case and head to receive a 90.5mm piston. Which equates to a 1776.....
