Well I can't vouch for the 914-6 chassis - I wouldn't rule anything out at this point, although it is a bit harder to pass along a stolen chassis without it raising eyebrows, I know it's been done...

I would definitely have to say not normal......

I would definitely have to say not normal... perhaps the front ends have been replaced... any other VIN identifications on the cars? Should have stickers on the hood and rear decklid, door jam etc.
