Pitch the cat, or gut it. Probably not doing anything anyway. I put cat-by passes on all my cars. For a 83 you need one with a O2 bung. At that age you will most likely have to cut off the bolts....

Try this. Put it in second, add some power and slip the clutch. Let it cool. If you still have the problem buy a new clutch disk.

I put a 964 grind cam in a 87 Carrera which seems to work well. Contact Camgrinder for suggestions. Not as flexilble down low, more ommph further up. Gas milage about the same.
