Brake light function

I want to wire in a new 3rd brake light does stepping on the brake send power to the black / yellow wire or does it connect the ground?

I am trying to install the griffiths barrier hoses into my 1987 911 coupe all done except the 2 long hoses i cannot extract either side from the engine compartment i cant see any clamps they...

so I did use contact cleaner and it worked for a few minutes
I took one apart and "repaired" it thus shorting out the circuit

time for new switches
