Hard to tell with the red paint. Double check your + and - at the back of alternator. See if you can find any marks ? Mine is reverse.

It looks like it. This spacer is located in front of the bearing in my alternator on my 83 sc. I’m not an expert, I don’t remember if the spacer is installed reverse on my previous image I posted....

Back then we use a 12 point socket that barely fits over the nut and we hammer it in slowly until it grabs. Then use an impact gun to take it off.
