I too have disassembled a 1969 2.0T. The previous owner rebuilt it (poorly) but never had it installed because it leaked so badly. I assume the case is warped too.

I have a similar blue in the frunk of my '82 US spec Targa. It is now in GP white after a PO's poor respray. The paint tag is gone but still some original black (I think) can be seen on the hinges....
