It is not a PLUG!!! It is the bottom of a threaded hole that was pressed out by too long of a bolt being screwed into the Block. Split the block to find it but I would just Run It.

If we saw all angles in the pic eg top and bottom the smaller side of the plug will have some marks from the turning pressing bolt. Show us that side!

That plug from the block should not hurt a thing but if your splitting the block anyway I would find it. I sure would not split the block because of it.

With OEM coil no ballast needed as it is internal in the coil. That MSD coil I tried said .8ohm ballast resistor needed with points but not for the MSD eletronic ign box its made for.
