the motor is as follows (as far as I know)

96mm pistons (2056)
camshaft (cant remember duration but it aint stock for sure)
crank balanced etc, rods polished
40mm webers, but have...

evening all,

I am running a 2056 914 ('73) and it gets a bit hot, even in scotland. it usually runs at 180 which is great, but gun it a bit and the temp shoots up to 200 and if I dont back off...

changed the plug, lead etc.

yes, all checked. carbs installed and set up for the car and tuned by engine builders. pulling ht off number 4 makes no difference. the others do.

one suggestion is some sort of oil surge fouling...

to recap - #4 is down, at idle and up to about 4500+ revs (it tried to kick in a bit above this i think at least last time i drove it)....

if 200-220 is ok for temp then im fine. can anyone confirm this?
