As per John Walker (earlier in this thread) and Chuck at Elephant, I double-checked to make sure that the control arm was set all the way back towards the crossmember....

There were both two-point and three-point rear belts for the 911SC, but that wouldn’t explain the large round indents in the leather nor do I think the holes are properly positioned as seat belt...

Hmm maybe there was and the previous owner deleted them? The rear has never had belts as long as I've owned the car (over 14 years) but now that you mention it, there should have been.

You can only strip threads going in, not coming out. If they were stripped by whoever put the bolts back in the damage is already done.
