Thanks for those useful suggestions. Especially the tip on checking out the CSV. I will give that test on the CSV a go next weekend.

The reason I was looking at the fuel pump is because this technical guide I have on K - Jetronic injection says in the trouble shooting section under: Engine stalls...

I have had starting problems when cold. The car is a 77 911S. The engine starts OK but stalls immediately. After several tries it kicks in but runs lean for about 30 seconds then runs normally. ...
