Check the green wire connecting to the distributor. This was my problem on a "78 SC. It mimicked many other problems, especially the hot start.

I had the same temperature related problem with a '78 SC. The fault was the green wire that goes into the distributor body. When very hot, it would not conduct, but was fine at cooler temperatures....
