Used B&B muffler cheap @Hershey

It is a one in two out stainless steel muffler that was on my '84 when I bought it. Made by Billy Boat. Age unknown but is still in good shape and is complete with bracket and supporting straps....

Tach bounce also assumes the DME has battery and ground. Unless the car was parked eight years ago because it didn't run I would not expect a sensor problem - not even the one with the funny reading....

Normally a tired throwout bearing makes noise with your foot on the clutch not off. Is the noise the same with the car in neutral and idling as in gear and driving? I'm thinking torque tube bearing.

Check the condition and resistance of the coil wire. There is enough voltage to jump a gap in the wire with a plug removed but maybe not in place. Another possibility is moisture or even a crack...
