Found the problem

Turns out it wasn't the heater hose...yeahhh...it was the heater control valve, a plastic part that melted and got a hole in it somehow and that's where the coolant was leaking out. :cool:

Found out what happened to cause my '83 na to overheat and leak coolant all over the floor: busted heater hose going into the firewall. The leak is in the middle of the hose and it seems easy enough...

Took the timing belt cover off and the water pump seems to be turning fine, and then steam started coming out of the back of the motor and coolant all over the floor again...aaarghhhh....must be one...

Well I checked the fan and it is working... the coolant is not circulating, that is why the temp in the radiator didn't trip the switch... must be the water pump.... DAMN!!!

I've done three belts on my car using the 'twist' method and never had any problems. You also tell by the sound; if it whines, it's too tight; if it flops it's too loose.

Don't know how it happened but the pipe is completely separated now, I've managed to hold it together with some clamps until I can get it repaired/replaced. Still open to ideas for new muffler system.
