Just a guess, but it could be a really, really bad CV joint. Never have seen this kind of behaviour in a rear wheel drive car, but it's not unusual in front-drive with bad CV's.

Yes, they are SuperTrapp 5" stainless steel mufflers. They are indeed tunable by adding and subtracting diffuser disks on the end. They sound pretty good too.
