I've stripped the car down now to make it faster to get the parts moving.

It is in good shape out of my 75 911s the trim ring has a slight pucker in the bottom from the heat but not that bad. Make me an offer!

You have a ground out issue somewhere. A positive lead must be grounding out if you are getting a strong spark. Feel around and see what wires are getting hot! Be careful trying to start it too much...
