I'm adding to my question....
The car is very loud. I assumed the cracked header based on mechanics input. Could it be that the rusted out muffler is my problem?

My mechanic says he found a crack on the 1-4 exhaust header. I think I should replace both headers while under there. Anyway, while looking for used parts, I was asked if my headers were tube type...
