Will a locking diff gearbox fit any car?

I just ordered a used transmission with the locking diff function and I'm not sure if my car has that option. My question is, will this gearbox my car although mine might not have the option?

I was 22 years old and it was a 996 Carrera 2 convertible from 1999. Guards red with turbo bumper and xenon headlights. Dark grey interior with red stiching and red seat belts. Loved that car.
