Crisis averted. One can assemble the one piece retainer if you install the main shaft into it first. It's just a little bid more finicky driving things home. Whew!

So there's a circlip for the main shaft race...
So there's a circlip for the main shaft race (99915205501) in the diff housing but not one for the pinion shaft race in the diff housing....
and dual circlips for both the main and pinion shaft...

Was at the track. All was well. Fuel tank full.
On throttle. Then it just died. No big bangs or clunks at the moment of failure. RPM's did not shoot up...
