The 901/914 transmission uses a 1st/rev shift sleeve guide similar to the 5th/rev guide on a 915 transmission except the shaft is smaller. The splines fit the 915 mainshaft just like the P355a....

SWB 911s and 912s were only delivered with aluminum case transmissions...

The mag case was introduced in the 911 in the middle of the 1969 model year. Way back when, I had a 1969 911S that had an aluminum case trans but late cases are mag.

The switch should be for the rear window heater. Emergency flasher had a warning triangle symbol. Switch and axles would be the same as 911 for their model year.

I've done this sort of thing several times for 901/914 transmissions. For a 1972 915, you would need to use the 2nd gear dog teeth and anchor block; etc like those used in your current 2nd gear.

If you have a 902/02 check the axle flange bolts for wear on the projections on the ends. They wear out after about 100K miles. Disaster if they break off. I've got pictures if you want to see.

The hex plug was used for Porsche transmissions from the 1950s until it was dropped in the 1980s. Just buy one on the internet.
