I removed mine and had the local radiator repair...

I removed mine and had the local radiator repair shop 'boil' or 'steam' them out.
I did have the Stromski kit for the studs of which I broke one.

I had oil build up in my heat exchangers. (84 Carrera 3.2 l) I removed the exchangers and took them to a rad shop and had them "boil" the exchangers clean. I did not "boil" out any other parts...
