No. 12 should be plenty large enough. 14 would probably be OK, too. 16 is easily large enough for the field wire (DF). It's just a short run.

I don't know how badly they are corroded, of course, but it's possible that a machine shop could flycut the bases to flatten them again. This is a standard thing to do with the Solexes.
