Okay it sounds like your tank is cracked at the top. You could try replacing the fuel level sender gasket as that is pretty cheap and easy to do. Check Clarks-garage for how to change it.

I wasn't aware of any 944 except the turbo having a venturi. I know it cleans up a bunch of lines that aren't needed. Basically it help to eliminate possible failures down the road.

I bought a rebuilt compressor off ebay and it works great. I probably should have gotten a parallel flow condenser, but it still works rather well.
