It could be as simple as a sticky starter solenoid. Mine tends to do that when it gets warm. A couple of well-placed whacks on the solenoid with a hammer usually do the trick.

Carbs I know. FI knowledge is limited to troubleshooting the L-Jet on the 1.8. I wouldn't call it a comprehensive knowledge.

I am confident I could get the carbs working about as well as carbs...
