Almost sounds like it could be a fuel vapor lock. Did you replace the head temp sensor? That can also cause weird symptoms.

In your case I would be suspicious of a faulty DME relay. Have you replaced that relay? If not, you should carry an extra one anyway. When did you last replace your fuel filter?
