Valve cover replacement

I have a 1999 911 with 70k miles. There is a bit of oil on my spark plugs. I want to change the spark plug tubes & valve cover gaskets. Where should I get them? And am I doing the right thing?

Bit of a challenge , is it worth the time, or just taking a rag and wiping the area down every few weeks

Hi RR
i did this procedure - tube replacement on 2 tubes + spark plugs
i am sure you will get alot more feedback than I provide, Here is my recap
being a rookie, I wanted as much access as possible

1 loosen muffler clamps - to see it the need to be replaced /rusted - best to do this before ordering parts

2 removed rear wheels
3 remove bumper
4 remove mufflers
you can get the job done form here,
but it would be easier if you can remove the muffler support brackets

5 remove muffler brackets, these will likely be hard to remove due to age and rust.
you might liquid wrench & heat over a day + to see it they will break loose before breaking the stud off in the block

tip ( not mine, just researched )
boat drain plug 1" expandable to 1.5" to pull the tube out
wood door knob 1.25" to use as a tap tube into block

many videos to outline the various steps above. I made a video, and lost it on my phone. Be the hero, and document this for all of us.

My time, 2 nights approx 6-8 hrs total

all the best mark

You can get the tube seals here at Pelican, and I assume the correct sealant as well (though I have not had checked to see if they have the correct sealant). You will need a few other seals if you are pulling the cam cover as well. You could also get new tubes if your are cracked.

You could also check with a local Independent service facility, I am sure they could supply you with what you need, and offer advice and guidance at the same time!
