Clutch problem
Driving around the other day. Couple hard accelerations in 2nd not full throttle but close. All of a sudden the pedal didn't seem to work until about half way down. Then over the next few applications the pedal got lower and lower until it wouldn't work at all. I was able to get it in gear and drive to place and towed it home. Didn't seem to slip or make any strange and no odd engagement.
Trying to figure if it's the hydraulics or the actual clutch. If anyone has any insight I'd appreciate it. 2003 996 engine was replace about 40k ago. I don't know if the clutch was done then or not. I bought it right after that. It's got about 160k total. Any idea how long the hydraulics last? |

The hydraulics don't last forever. At 160K, they are over-due. I would try bleeding it first but if that does not solve your problem then replace the slave cylinder and then the master, in that order.
Then, if that does not solve it, it's time to drop the gear box out and inspect the clutch, pressure plate, etc.
