997.2 vs. 991
Fairly new to Porsches, although I've wanted one since I rode in my friend's 1967 911 in Germany.
Quick question: can you give me your thoughts on purchasing a pristine 997.2 vs. purchasing a pristine, though more expensive, 991? Both are C2S, configured identically. Thanks. Hope to continue in the forum as an owner... |

I have a 997.2 GTS. I have test driven 991s several times and I have had one as a service loaner. In my opinion the answer revolves around what you want. If you want a more luxurious, technologically updated and comfortable Grand Tourer (which still sports legitimate sports car bones) then the 991. If you want a car that retains a lot of the traditional 911 feel with hydraulic steering, a real handbrake, a shorter wheelbase and more engaging (to me) driving feel then choose a 997.2 although they are becoming harder to find these days due to the relatively low production numbers due to the financial crisis (which hit exactly when the 997.2 launched). BTW I am also local in Cary.
