alternate front tire size

My '03 996 (C2) calls for 225/40-18 front tires.

Can I use 235/40-18s?

I think the wheel is 18 x 8"

Am hoping that this might help with turn entry understeer on the track that I've heard is a common complaint with 996s.

Chime in please!

Even a 245/40/18 should fit fine as long as the front wheel is confirmed 18x8 and will generate more front grip. A lot of track rat dual-sport 986/987 cars run 245/275 18 to good effect.
