911 T engine ticking sound; 2003 996.
Anyone notice a ticking sound in the engine compartment? Car runs great; all gauges indicate proper operation. Recently had IMS (precautionary) and clutch replaced.

Injectors make a ticking noise.Or when mine made ticking (2005 996 c4s ) it was bore scoring.Does it use oil? Is near side exhaust sooty?.

If yours is a turbo it wont be bore scoring

or have a replaceable IMS, at least not without splitting the case and removing the shaft.
