Replacing Fuel pump..? 2004 996

Hello, I have a 2004 996 cab. When I start the engine it runs for 2 or 3 seconds then stops..! If i immediately try to restart it wont start... If I wait for a minute it starts and dies down in 2 to 3 seconds... Could it be the fuel filter (Cant Find It..!) or is the filter part of the in tank fuel pump. If it is can I just replace the pump unit or do I have to replace the whole assembly above the pump itself..???

First thing you need to do is proper diagnostics: Hook up a fuel pressure test gauge to the fuel rail test port and check your fuel pressure when this happens. If the fuel pressure drops off, it could be the pump (your car does not have a separate fuel filter, it is built into the pump). The only way to replace the pump is to purchase a entire unit.
