996 Smoking

Hello fellow car enthusiast !!!!

I apologize if this has already been posted. I appreciate your advice.

I have a 2001 Porsche 996 with 180k miles

I was aggressively driving one day around a curve and out of no where the car just starting smoking really bad the whole cab filled with smoke there was a 200 ft. trail of smoke behind the car.......I parked it came back to get it with the car trailer it started right up no crazy sounds runs fine but started smoking again. Any thoughts or ideas ?

Start it up and try and take the oil fill cap off, if its really tight dont break the flex pipe. If the AOS is really bad it will have extremly high crankcase vacuam

vacume checker $ 15

You can make your own vacuum checker w a rubber grommet ( big one ) and a few simple parts from you ACE hardware store

just a little red food coloring and water, your set I think under 4 your AOS is good - somebody provide feedback on the vacuum inches

Sorry last info you tape the ruler on after you set the water level so you have a zero on the water line , heat the engine first, then attach the vacuum to see the pull in inches

The 1st gen M96 3.4 litre engines have the thinnest, weakest cylinder walls making them prone to irregular wear regardless of mileage!
