Starting Problems
I recently purchased a 1999 996 C4 with 85K miles. One of the issues I am would like to correct is the car not starting. Have to turn the key back to 0 multiple times to get it to start. The previous owner said I should wait tile the oil level timer counts down before starting. Is this true? Should I wait for the oil level timer to count down?
I also am cannot open the trunk or frunk as some say. I must have someone pull the lever in the car while lifting on the trunk to open. Cycling the lock has no effect on the problem. I did remove all carpeting, tools, spare tire and covers in the trunk and unplugged a light. |

Welcome!
The low oil on the graph doesn't have anything to do with your car not starting. It could be the ignition switch. I really don't know. When my switch went bad, I didn't have headlights, wipers and heater. Not taking anything away from this wonderful website but go to Renntech.org. It is a no nonsense site that is for all of us that like the DIY. Good troubleshooting info. I had trouble starting my car intermittently with even a new battery and it ended up being a wore out starter.

Problem fixed. Broken wire in the wiring harnesses located around the ignition.
