I made two really bad garage mechanic mistakes and need some help.
I was removing the left vent and pulled the very outer shell off the switch instead of wiggling and pulling the two halves apart. Should have watched that YouTube first! Secondly the pins inside popped out and worse, because like an fool I did not disconnect the battery and I shorted the brown ground wire. It did a meltdown about 6-8 inches up the harness exposing the copper. I was able to shrink tube the exposed section. I did take a photo after my heart attack of the pins that did not pop out and I was able to find a wiring schematic of a 1999 turbo that listed the numbers on the plastic dial with wire colors. This got me really close as everything works except the right side marker lights. Only the left side works. Anyone have a wiring diagram or photo of the inside of the headlight switch on a 1999 C4? I am hoping it is just a problem with where I put the pins and not a short up behind the dash! |

The wiring diagram from the 1999 996 Turbo was close enough and lights are working. I was surprised by the left and right parking lights on the switch. Any idea why they do this? Assume it is do to parking on the left or right side of a road, but why? Some history on this would be interesting!
