Porsche Crest 997 Steering Locked

Hi All,

Need help with my Porsche 997.1 Carrera 2, 2007.

I had already dismantled the steering column to grease the steering height adjustment mechanism, managed to put back and reassemble, no issues. Started the car and all was well, drove the car around for two week period with no issued.

Please note: i didn't have to remove the steering wheel form the steering column,

When i parked the car for 4 weeks, the car wouldn't start and i got a message of Steering Locked, "re-leaf steering", i did the following:

1. Moved the steering form side to side, even jerked it hard, as advised bu forum.
2. Changed the key form Key 1 to Key 2
3. Opened and closed the door in the process
4. Cleaned the ignition switch with WD40 and waited for it dry for 12 hours
5. Lifted the car off the ground to allow the form tiers to move freely

Advise please, need help please

Regards
Roddy

Hi All,

Happy new year.

An update on my journey, i had three garages look at the car, all with latest diagnostic testing equipment in Qatar, with no avail.

As my last solution, I contacted the Dealer in Doha, who was happy to take the car, after spending USD 2K, the car has started 😊, they have changed the steering angle sensor to start the car. As a result, both my remote control keys don’t work anymore. The dealer has ordered a new one for Key1. I hope it ends soon…
