997.1 Coolant Reservoir Replacement

I have a 2008 4S that has a coolant leak from the reservoir. I am ready to tackle the job this weekend (or next). I have watched several videos (mainly of 996s) and read through the phenomenal write-up on here. I do have one question.

How far can the engine "drop" before it causes other issues? I believe I need to drop it about 2". I also believe that there are just a couple of fuel lines that need to be "popped" out of their respective holders.

I have never dropped the engine in a Porsche, so I would be remiss if I didn't say I am fairly nervous about this.

Thank you.

Ian

Try this on for size, it is a bit of work, but nothing to be worried about:

Thank you JFP! Great write-up. Any suggestions on how to get it on jackstands? If I used the jacking point on each side, where do I put the jackstands?

I would typically put the stands under the suspension uprights.

Job complete! I actually bought a low-profile motorcycle jack. It worked perfect as it was wide enough to support the engine from tilting as well. No jackstands needed.

Always a good idea to have some jackstands on hand for extra safety precaution
