2000 Model Year Gear Selector Removal

I searched the forum but could not find this answer. . .

I have a 2000 Carrera Tip with a worn trim piece around the gear selector.

Any insight how to remove the gear selector and the trim piece around it?

I’d like to replace it with this. . . thanks.

Look at the underside pic here and pop those tabs with a plastic trim tool.
Shift knob pulls up with some gusto on the manual, not 100% for the auto.

Thanks Pal.

I am going to document a refresh of the carbon fiber side vents in the next couple of weeks.

The transmission works fine. I’ve had it checked out. The trim
piece was scratched up and ugly. I replaced only that.
